Thanks for bringing this unusual Griffith to the forefront. This is NOT the first Griffith. It was originally owned by Richard "Dick" Monnich as one of his Grantura Mk III car imports that was a design concept of the first Griffith idea. He installed a 260 cid FoMoCo engine, used it as a "fun car" for about a year and it was eventually marketed through Jack Griffith to be sold as 200/5/002. In an interview with George Clark who built the prototype Griffith, 200/4/000, he said that Monnich used to tool around town having fun with 002. I have done several interviews with Dick Monnich as well as an interview of Monnich's next-door neighbor who, as a young teenager, would often visit Dick and learn as much as he could about this odd looking car. It has been authenticated as the only 260-powered Griffith. Jack never installed a 260 in any of the factory cars, simply the three versions of the 289, 200/225/271 hp Ford engines. It was originally never titled by Monnich but ran around town with "Dealer" tags on it.

Pas d'ABS, pas d'ESP, pas d'airbag, je meurs comme un homme.
