Carter Sec Et Pression D'huile
#1

Huggy, I can only comment on a X-flow engine, it surely makes a differnce on the oil pressure if you have a dry sump and yes there is an adjusting screw on a 5 port dry sump pump. From memory a K series still uses the OEM oil pump but the external pump is just a scavenge pump, so it depends really what system you have. The only advantage you have with a dry sump is that the oil pressure is constant, biggest disadvantage is the ammount of oil that will take much more time to warm. A alternative to a dry sump is to fit a accusump. an oilcooler can also act like an accusump but in a lesser degree.

Thansk for your answer Elie,
This could perhaps explain why in this car I do not have any oil cooler although everything else is top specs (because much more oil used)
I find my oil pressure quite low: 4 cold and 2 hot on latest caterham jauge...but before trying to adjust pressure screw it will perhaps be more reasonable to fit a capilarity jauge as caterham electric sender and jauge seem not to be fault proof.

What engine, what oil do you use, the older the engine the thickker it has to be, a X-flow does not really like 5W... oil

Duratec with 15W40 semi synthetic silkolène oil

4bars cold / 1,5 hot at idle / 3,5 hot at 4000rpm sound low to me but I'm much more familliar with Xflow and Zetec.

What do you think Elie? you better know this engine than me...

Faulty sender ?

Huggy, i took a while but i had to be 100% sure but the sender is fine, like the oil pressures.
