Il prend sa retraite en finissant dernier mais avec un meilleur tour en course, on peut pas lui en vouloir. Surtout qu'il doit toucher une prime parce que les sponsors versent une prime quand on annonce le meilleur tour de la Visa Cash App gnagnagna.
Pour moi c'est McLaren qui s'est planté. Quand ils avaient 30 secondes d'avances sur Verstappen, ils pouvaient s'arrêter changer les pneus et s'assurer le meilleur tour en course (+ un tire offset en cas de SC). Ils ont préféré rester en piste en assurant tranquillement, c'est pas trop la mentalité de challengers au championnat ; chaque point compte et ils en ont laissé un sur la table.

Il a tout de suite été très rapide chez Renault, dominant Hulkenberg qui était bien plus familier avec la voiture (et que tout le monde considère comme un pilote aux performances solides qui n'a pas eu la percée qu'il aurait méritée).

“So he rings me and he’s like ‘I’ve just got off the plane. I’ve been thinking on the flight on the way here. I’m not going to sign the contract. I’m going to take another contract.’”
“I was like ‘wow, okay, have Mercedes or Ferrari come through with something?’ And he went ‘no, I’m going to sign for Renault.”
“Because Daniel’s got a sense of humour, I was convinced he’s taking the piss here.”
“‘You’re not going to Renault, stop f**king about, just tell me when you are going to sign that contract.’ So after about 10 minutes, he finally persuaded me that he was gonna go to Renault and it was disappointing.”

Verstappen de retour aux affaires!. Pôle et victoire pour la course sprint.
Verstappen 2ème aux qualifs, Norris (en pôle) peut probablement remercier Russell de s'être crashé en fin de session empêchant ses poursuivants d'améliorer leurs chronos.
