Le Hunkt Canticie










China Copies Range Rover: Hunkt Canticie launched on the Chinese car market.
We hadn't heard from Hunkt for a while. We knew they were still working on their infamous Canticie, a so-pretty named Range Rover copy-clone.
But suddenly they are back with a bang! The Canticie has been launched on the Chinese car market, looking so much like a Range Rover we had to look twice to confirm it really was the Hunkt. It is!
Hunkt is the English brand name of Hanlong, a brand owned by Hanlong Auto, a car maker based in Hubei province. The car's English name is Canticie, the Chinese name is Kuangshi.
The Canticie is manufactured by Zotye Auto, China's most famous copy-cat brand. The Canticie started life as the Zotye T800, later renamed T900. It was under development for about two years, and we covered it here a coupe of times. Recently, Zotye has showed more original design, earning the company some much-needed goodwill.
The T900 would be a step back in the wrong direction and I think that it why Zotye has shipped the design to Hanlong. But Zotye is still the manufacturer!
The Hunkt Canticie is powered by a 2.0 turbo with 218 hp and 370 Nm. 0-100 takes 9.19 seconds. Top speed is 185 km/h. Fuel consumption is 9.2 liter per 100 kilometer. The engine is made by Hubei Daye Hanlong Engine. Gearbox is an 8-speed automatic.
Base models get RWD, high-end models AWD. So far we have only seen the RWD model in the wild, note the RWD badges on the back of the cars on the photos.
Size Hunkt Canticie: 4985/1995/1819, 2997.
Size Range Rover: 4999/2073/1835, 2992.
The interior is more original. It still looks a little Range Rover, but Hunkt added a huge twin-screen to the mix. The instrument panel is 10.25 inch and the touch screen 12.3 inch.
And finally; the price: from 159.800 yuan to 243.800 yuan ($22.640 - 34.490). For comparison, the base Range Rover starts at 1.22 million yuan in China, or $172.600. So you can buy five top-spec Hunkt Canticies for the price of one base-spec Range Rover. Hmm... though choice!
