Nouvelle Mazda 3

– Mazda Motor Corporation today began production of its next 'new generation' vehicle. The new car – to be named "Axela" in the Japanese market and Mazda3 in all other global markets – is the fourth all-new Mazda developed under the company's DNA-focused product creation system and will follow closely the success of the Mazda6 (known as the Atenza in Japan), Mazda2 (Demio) and Mazda RX-8.

The latest new-generation Mazda will be officially launched at the 60th Frankfurt Motor Show in early September and goes on sale in Australia in the first quarter of 2004.

The newest Mazda is designed to blur the lines of conventional vehicle segmentation, offering traditional C-segment customers more in terms of design, craftsmanship and interior packaging, as well as a dynamic driving experience often associated with European-built vehicles.

Recent Mazda products, developed and built using these same priorities, have helped the company achieve product acclaim from customers and media, including more than 50 international awards for the Mazda6/Atenza and the "2003 International Engine of the Year" award for the RENESIS rotary engine in the new Mazda RX-8.

To mark the start of production, a ceremony was held at Mazda’s Hofu Plant in the Yamaguchi Prefecture of Japan. The official Job #1 vehicle, a European-specification, five-door, hatchback in Winning Blue, was greeted off the line by union representatives, Mazda employees and key company directors, including Hisakazu Imaki, Executive Vice President, Chief Engineering & Manufacturing Officer, and Stephen Odell, Managing Executive Officer in charge of global Marketing, Sales and Customer Service.

The Mazda3 embodies the design direction presented in the Mazda MX Sportif concept, which was showcased at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2003. The strong Mazda brand DNA – stylish, insightful and spirited – can be found throughout the vehicle.

Key development targets for new Mazda3 included:


A prominent and well-defined Mazda design based on distinct, muscular proportions and dynamic athleticism

Mazda's highest levels of craftsmanship and quality to ensure high value for customers

Superbly balanced vehicle dynamics able to deliver class-leading Mazda driving pleasure that is often associated with European cars

Optimal interior space and innovative packing solutions to maximize usability

Additional product detail, including information pertaining to body styles, packages, powertrains and pricing of the new Mazda3, will be officially announced during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

In the critical Japanese market, where the vehicle will see an autumn debut, the name Axela was developed by combining the English words "accelerate" and "excellent." This name was created to communicate the youthful exhilaration of fun driving – acceleration – with infinite possibilities, as represented in "X".

C'est bien la concrétisation du MX sportif vu à Genève.... très beau... mais un peu haut semble-t-il, tendance 307 apparemment... Reste à voir les moteurs qui n'étaient pas spécialement folichons dans ce qui était annoncé... c'est-à-dire pas de gros bon essence ni de gros bon diesel (on peut supposer que les moteurs de la 6 seront repris tels quels, donc 136 ch maxi...)... 2L 150 ch essence, c'est bien ce que je disais... point de turbo, 150 ch seulement... donc pas de déclinaison sportive pour le moment... Je déplore la même chose sur la 6 qui ne va pas au-delà de 163ch (en France en tout cas, vu qu'outre atlantique elle a droit à un bon V6)... Pourquoi pas les moulins de la Focus ? D'ailleurs 136 ch dans une compacte, c'est pas non plus particulierement poussif, quand meme !

Je n'ai pas dit que ca ne se vendrait pas ni que ca n'avancerait pas, ca en fera une excellente alternative à la Mégane dcI 140 ou à la 307 HDI 136 (quand elle existera) ou à une Golf ou une Audi 2L TDI 140... Mais pas une alternative à ma LTS... et c'est surtout côté essence que c'est léger avec rien de transcendant : pas mieux qu'un 2L FSI sur la nouvelle A3 et ses 150 ch... C'est pas folichon... même si c'est suffisant au quotidien...

Boaf, la LTS n'est pas l'Alpha et l'Omega de la production automobile ! Cote chiffres mieux vaut sans doute piquer le marche de la 307 HDi que celui de la LTS <!--emo&-->[img]http://www.forum-autoroule.com/html/emoticons/icon_wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='icon_wink.gif'><!--endemo-->... Et cote essence, les PDM s'effondrent, surtout en haut-de-gamme, c'est pas necessairement idiot de ne pas investir enormement dessus...
